What is the grace period?

Last updated: September 13, 2024

Orb’s event reporting grace period allows systems to report usage data up to a certain number of hours after an event's timestamp. This ensures that the usage can still be sent for that billing period, even if reporting delays exist. By default, the grace period is 12 hours.

How does the grace period affect invoicing?

Invoices with usage-based prices will be issued after the invoice date and the grace period have elapsed. For example, if an invoice with an invoice date of August 1st, 2024, 12:00:00 AM UTC, has usage prices, and the grace period is set to 12 hours, the invoice will be issued on August 1st, 2024, 12:00:00 PM UTC.

Invoices without usage-based prices (i.e., only fixed prices) will not be subject to the grace period.
